What is Actuary?
An actuary uses mathematics, statistics and financial theory to assess and manage risk โ pricing insurance products, valuing pension funds and advising companies on the financial impact of uncertain future events. The actuarial profession is one of the most mathematically rigorous in the world. In India, actuary is one of the rarest and highest-paid qualifications โ only around 500 fully qualified actuaries exist in a country of 1.4 billion people. The insurance sector's growth post-pandemic has driven enormous demand for actuarial talent.
Is this right for you?
Exclusively for PCM students with exceptional mathematical ability โ particularly in statistics and probability. The actuarial exams are notoriously difficult with pass rates of 30-40% per paper and 10-15 papers required for full qualification. If you are passionate about mathematics and patient enough for a 6-8 year qualification journey, the financial reward and job security are unparalleled in finance.
