What is Blockchain Developer?
A blockchain developer builds decentralised applications and smart contracts on blockchain platforms like Ethereum, Solana and Polygon. Blockchain technology powers cryptocurrencies, DeFi (decentralised finance), NFT platforms, supply chain tracking and digital identity systems. In India, the RBI's CBDC pilot, government blockchain projects and India's large crypto user base have created genuine demand for blockchain developers. It is a niche but well-paid technical specialty at the frontier of financial technology.
Is this right for you?
For PCM students with strong programming skills, interest in cryptography and genuine enthusiasm for decentralised technology. Blockchain development requires comfort with both software engineering and an understanding of economic incentive design. The field is volatile — following crypto market cycles — so financial resilience during downturns is important.
