Chandigarh University Online is run by the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) of Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab. It is one of the most heavily advertised online universities in India, and its fees look very attractive once the “early bird scholarship” is applied. This page explains what the degree is worth, what you will actually pay, and where you should slow down before signing up. Everything below is checked against CU Online’s own official programme pages.

Last verified: 18 October 2026, against onlinecu.in official programme pages. Fees and scholarship percentages change between intakes, so always confirm on the official programme page before you pay.

Is a Chandigarh University Online Degree Valid?

Yes. Chandigarh University is UGC-entitled to run online degree programmes, and the university holds NAAC A+ accreditation. Under the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020, a degree from an entitled online programme is treated as equivalent to the same degree earned on campus. It is generally accepted for private jobs, higher studies in India and government recruitment.

Two habits protect you. First, check that your exact programme is listed for your intake year on the UGC-DEB official portal, because entitlement is granted programme by programme. Second, do not confuse CU Online with Chandigarh University’s separate Open and Distance Learning arm (CUIDOL). They are different modes with different rules. Make sure the programme you pay for is the online programme you researched.

Courses Offered at Chandigarh University Online

CU Online has a focused catalogue: a handful of degrees, each with many specialisations. The specialisation list is long, especially for the MBA, so pick based on the job you want, not on how new or trendy a name sounds.

Chandigarh University Online Fee Structure 2026

CU Online shows every fee in two layers: a listed programme fee and a lower figure “after early bird scholarship”. The table shows both, taken from the official programme pages. Realistically, the scholarship-adjusted figure is what most students are quoted, but confirm which one applies to you on the day you pay.

Source: onlinecu.in official programme pages, checked October 2026. Seat booking is listed at ₹10,000 and CU states a one-time registration fee of ₹1,000. Fees mentioned are indicative. Verify directly with the college before making any decision.

Read the fee page carefully. The same CU Online page shows more than one scholarship figure for the same programme. The MBA page, for example, shows ₹1,65,000 (25% scholarship) and also ₹1,80,400 (18% scholarship, ₹45,100 per semester) for a version with additional value-added certificates. The BBA and BCA pages similarly show both 20% and 25% figures.

The site also runs banners such as “few seats left” and “up to 30% scholarship”. Online programmes do not usually run out of seats the way campus programmes do, so do not let that pressure you. Ask the admissions team for the exact fee, scholarship percentage and whether the scholarship applies to every semester, in writing, before you book.

Eligibility Criteria

  • UG programmes (BBA, BCA, BA, BAJMC): Class 12 or equivalent in any stream from a recognised board.
  • Online MBA: A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. CU states that CA and ICWA qualified candidates can also apply.
  • Online MCA: A bachelor’s degree, with Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Programming or Statistics studied at Class 12 or graduation level.
  • Online M.Sc Data Science: A bachelor’s degree with Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects.
  • Online MA / MAJMC: A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.

Admission Process 2026, Step by Step

There is no entrance exam. Admission is fully online and selection is based on your previous qualification.

  1. Choose your programme and specialisation on the official CU Online website (onlinecu.in).
  2. Register and fill the application form with your personal and academic details.
  3. Upload documents: Class 10 and 12 marksheets, graduation marksheets/degree for PG programmes, photo ID and a photograph.
  4. Pay the booking amount or fee (semester-wise, annual or no-cost EMI) through the official payment link only.
  5. Complete verification and receive your enrolment details and LMS login.

Once you submit an enquiry, expect calls and WhatsApp follow-ups from CU counsellors. That is normal for large online universities. Treat each call as information, not as a deadline, and pay only after you have checked the fee and the UGC-DEB listing yourself.

How Classes and Exams Work

Learning runs through the CU Online LMS app, with live and recorded sessions so working learners can study around their job. Several programmes bundle add-on certificate modules, including Harvard Business Publishing content, Microsoft and NSDC co-branded certificates, depending on the programme. Exams are online, and CU advertises an “on-demand examination” model that gives you some flexibility in when you appear.

Add-on certificates are a nice bonus, but they are not the reason to choose a university. Employers judge the degree, your skills and your experience. Do not pay for a higher-priced variant only because it includes more certificates unless you genuinely need them.

Scholarships and EMI Options

CU Online’s main fee benefit is the early-bird scholarship, shown as 18% to 25% depending on the programme and variant, with banners mentioning up to 30%. Because the discount appears on nearly every programme page, think of the scholarship-adjusted fee as the real price rather than a special deal. No-cost EMI is offered through finance partners. A “no-cost” EMI is still a loan in your name, so read the agreement and check for processing charges before you sign.

Placements and Career Support: The Honest Picture

CU Online advertises career support through a job portal with 300+ hiring partners, along with resume building, interview preparation and mentoring. That support can help, but it is assistance, not a placement guarantee. CU does not publish an audited, programme-wise placement report for online learners showing the percentage placed and median salaries. Placement numbers you may see for Chandigarh University’s campus programmes do not apply to the online programmes.

An online degree pays off most when you already have work experience and want a promotion, a role change or a recognised postgraduate credential. If you are a fresher, plan to build projects, internships and practical skills alongside the degree.

Who Should Choose CU Online and Who Should Think Twice

Choose CU Online if…Think twice if…
You want a NAAC A+ private university degree at a lower fee than premium online brandsYou need the lowest possible cost. Public and open university programmes can be far cheaper
You are working and need flexible live plus recorded classes and online examsYou are a fresh Class 12 student who wants campus life and in-person teaching
You want a wide range of MBA specialisations, including newer ones like FinTech or Product ManagementYou want an online B.Com or M.Com, which CU Online does not currently list
You are disciplined enough to keep up on your ownYou are easily influenced by sales calls and seat-scarcity banners. Slow down and compare first

Compare CU Online with Alternatives

Put CU Online next to at least two other options before deciding. The closest like-for-like comparison is LPU Online, another large Punjab-based private university. If you are open to paying more for a stronger brand, compare Amity University Online, MAHE Online and NMIMS Online. If cost matters most, look at IGNOU Online as a much cheaper public-university benchmark.
