What is Data Scientist?
A data scientist extracts meaningful insights from large datasets to help organisations make better decisions. You combine statistics, programming and domain knowledge to find patterns in data that answer business questions — why are customers churning, which product will sell next, how can we reduce hospital readmissions. In India, data science has exploded across banking, e-commerce, healthcare and startups. Companies like Flipkart, Paytm, Zomato and every major bank now have large data science teams solving real problems with data.

Ideal for PCM students with strong mathematics and statistics aptitude who enjoy finding patterns in numbers. You should be comfortable with ambiguity — real data is messy and problems are not always clearly defined. Curiosity, persistence and the ability to translate complex findings into simple language for non-technical audiences are what separate good data scientists from great ones.
