What is Forensic Accountant?
A forensic accountant investigates financial fraud, embezzlement, money laundering and corporate misconduct using accounting expertise and investigative techniques. You follow the money — analysing financial records to find evidence of fraud that may be used in legal proceedings, insurance claims or regulatory investigations. In India, forensic accounting has grown significantly with rising corporate governance requirements, SEBI regulations and high-profile corporate fraud cases like IL&FS and Yes Bank. It is one of the most intellectually stimulating accounting careers.
Is this right for you?
For Commerce or PCM students with a combination of accounting skills and investigative curiosity. If you find yourself naturally suspicious of things that do not add up and enjoy working like a detective, forensic accounting is genuinely exciting.
